@frankboehmert @JohanEmpa I empathise with you Johan that it's not an easy situation to be in, I'd suggest to read the linked thread trying to be open and non-defensive, to remove the list of allowed languages/countries and if too many users are signing up to close sign-ups for now. I feel like you really want to provide a good instance and I'm sure it's a lot of work. I hope you find a good solution, maybe other instance admins in DE would be able to help, esp with legal risks etc

@frankboehmert @JohanEmpa I really like that the fediverse seems to be a very accepting place, but this also means for me that it's important to listen and to learn so it can remain a very accepting place for everyone.

Personally, other reasons to move instance for me were that I also prefer not-for-profit instances, and I'm not a huge fan of carbon capturing technology, and I feel like it's misleading to be claiming that mastodon.green is removing CO2 from the atmosphere if it isn't (yet).

@frankboehmert @JohanEmpa I agree with Frank, I feel like it's okay to state that the instance is focused on European countries and languages but not the list of allowed countries/languages and to actively exclude and block people who join. The linked thread also gave me some eye-opening perspectives. Especially as white persons I feel like we have to listen very closely and accept criticism and I don't like the way some other users of mastodon.green responded to the thread.
