@glynmoody that just the start. As you can imagine with a highly bureaucratic organisation, in case the Commission decides to do something it would be according to actions agreed with trading and consumers associations (I.e. more time) and with the agreement of all member countries (good luck with Orban or Fico)
@glynmoody The way it seems to work is that the European Commission needs to confirm economic coercion within 4 months. It then has to present its findings to the Council which has 8-10 weeks to approve/reject it. If approved, the Commission then makes a request to the third party to stop, as the first step is dialog. Then enter negotiations if they don’t agree. That’s not a bazooka if it can take up to 6 months!
@wonderofscience it would be interesting to compare them without their atmosphere

@glynmoody Same story for the Aral sea, apparently: "[..] the Aral Sea began shrinking in the 1960s after the rivers that fed it were diverted by Soviet irrigation projects. By 2007, it had declined to 10% of its original size [...]"
@glynmoody Guess why: "[...] the Iranian government’s space agency says that Russia has caused water levels to fall by increasing the number of its dams on the Volga river, which has reduced the flow into the Caspian Sea. [...] The Volga accounts for 86 percent of the water entering the Caspian Sea and the diminished flow has caused it to dry up, particularly over the last two years."
