Hello Mastodon!

There's been lots of tech layoffs recently. Can we get a thread going of folks looking for work and companies hiring?

Retoot for reach ☺️

GoReleaser, one of my favourite #golang tools, just added support to announce releases on mastodon https://github.com/goreleaser/goreleaser/pull/3567 🚀🚀🚀
feat: add mastodon by jolheiser · Pull Request #3567 · goreleaser/goreleaser

This PR adds mastodon as an announcement pipeline. 🥳 Resolves #3566

@david_whitney thank you for sharing! I’ve had a very similar experience early on in my career. Rough times but I’m somewhat happy I learned my lesson early

Once we finally got the software out of the door, I got paid my overtime bonus - 4 weeks worth of evening and weekend pay.

I was livid, believing that the implicit deadline stretch implicitly came with the agreement of continued pay.

The company was defiant because "we agreed".

@hynek that's why I said "too". :)

But I get it. I'm ok with the UI. I mean, my fav was twitter :/

emphasis on was

a reminder: just as you don’t have to amplify facsists or give them your time, energy and attention on Twitter, you sure as fuck don’t have to bring it over here.

@hynek I have been thinking about this since "moving" to mastodon.

Of course it's a little apples to oranges but my fav approach is YouTube:

- Subscription tab where I see only things I curated myself (would this be the timeline?)
- The recommendation algorithm works well enough. When it misses, you can correct it.

YouTube rewards quality content *too* and maybe that's a good way of framing the conversation?

(I agree with you we'll get "some algo timeline whatever we want it or not")

I find it frustrating how user research about how normies prefer algo timelines is floated without acknowledging that it so far has always led to outrage-driven hellholes like Twitter or Facebook.

I don’t want to take it away from anyone just b/c I don’t like it, but if you don’t have a plan for this, I’m ok with the 99% scrolling thru TikTok & arguing with their racist uncles on Facebook about made up news—while this stays a tiny nerd hole.

My adrenal system is tired of outrage baiting.

It's always a pleasure to read @filippo words on #golang

How Go Mitigates Supply Chain Attacks - The Go Programming Language

Go tooling and design help mitigate supply chain attacks at various stages.

#typescript & #vitejs is a very enjoyable combination. Bonus points for #vitest

I just converted a small #chess library I wrote a while ago and it was a very smooth process. Looking forward to open-source it!
