It took the world like 0.3 seconds to stop calling Meta "formerly Facebook" but we are several months in and everyone is either still calling X "formerly twitter" or mostly not bothering calling it X at all. A disastrous brand.

In the U.S., recent annual estimates of bird deaths due to:

Cats = 2.4 billion bird deaths

Collisions from building glass = 600 million bird deaths

Land wind turbines = <200,000 bird deaths

Some politicians claim wind turbines β€œkill all the birds.”

But… they’re not really worried about birds. Rather, they prefer we stick with oil & gas over renewable #energy.

"the genuine human experience is to be both animal and owner"

god DAMN if that isn't some deep shit

Meditation voiceover: "clear all thoughts from your mind"
my mind: "i wonder if the reason people sometimes find women's voices to be 'annoying' on audio is because audio is by default optimized for male voices"

Random thought: I increasingly don't think capitalism has much to do with making a profit, or maximizing value.

Over and over, we see priceless resources destroyed so that the bosses can feel powerful. I think that's the main goal of capitalism, actually: making bosses feel like big men. Profit is incidental.
