I'm the guy everyone stereotypes as a CIS male, but is really a feminine male at heart. I have male anatomy, so I consider myself male, but am not your stereotypical male and don't think I should be one. I guess that technically makes me trans, but I hate labels, so I am just me and I happen to have a ding dong. Note that the word "feminine" is used to give people a reference point, not used to define me. I am me, unique, and not a label.

It's funny when pride month rolls around. I may be queer, but I am still in the closet. Or more accurately, I don't speak about my sexuality because I think it is none of anyone's business. I don't have to be flaming to enjoy life.

Just going to leave this here:

Is pushing people away based on guilt by association really the best way to handle transphobia?

Someone literally came to @FediForum to discuss decentralized social media and the social web in a non-hostile manner, and was perfectly fine and respectful towards the trans, gays, and lesbians attending, but they were prohibited from speaking because one of the leaders of their organization talked with someone who is accused of being transphobic? The person banned from speaking never said anything transphobic. It was purely guilt by association.

When dealing with outsiders, we have two choices. Be hostile to them or be welcoming to them.

If we are hostile to them, we just confirm that they were right about us being a threat, and we just create more people who hate us. On the other hand, if we are welcoming to them, they start to question why people are so hostile to us, and we can gain another ally.

If #trans people keep being this hostile and exclusionary to normies, we will wind up continuing to isolate ourselves until we have no social influence at all. And the less social influence we have, the more people are hostile to us.

It's like we are trying to dig ourselves out of a hole society has put is in... by digging deeper.

I understand being protective. One of the reasons I post under an alias is because I am afraid of being attacked simply for who I am. But being exclusionary and punishing people using guilt by association is a tactic that will just backfire.

It’s that time of year. Your local vendor loves gay, and has for the past 4 months!

Congress is considering bills that let content owners block entire websites, even if they contain lawful content. It’s a huge overreach. https://act.eff.org/action/tell-congress-no-to-internet-blacklists
Tell Congress: No to Internet Blacklists

Congress is once again pushing dangerous website-blocking laws, including the Foreign Anti-Digital Piracy Act (FADPA). These bills would let copyright holders get court orders to block entire websites, without due process, based on nothing but a hollow promise not to abuse their new power.

If we created a fediverse server with the name Yummy Pickle yummypickle.com, would people be interested in joining it?

People's fediverse handle would be: @[email protected]

A bit whimsical, but fun.
I would join or know someone who would join.

I wouldn't but maybe someone else will.

I don't think it is a good domain name for a fediverse server.

I really don’t know how to feel about this other than it made me giggle. Innuendo upon innuendo…

As someone who has a gender identity and lifestyle that does not match the stereotypes, this election is a bit emotional for me, and I am afraid of the future. Are bigoted people going to be more empowered to attack me for who I am? Do I have to hide who I really am from others? Is my voice going to be suppressed? What about my rights? Am I safe?

But at the same time, I am not surprised that Trump won. People like to blame the bigots and racists and anyone not loyal to them or the party in some way. But the Democrats lost voters from almost every demographic. They lost black voters, Hispanic voters, gay & lesbian voters, etc. People want change and they want policies that make their lives better, not celebrities and slogans.

I did not vote for Trump, but I am disillusioned with the Democratic Party too.

I am concerned for the future, not just because Trump has won, but also because the Democrats are so incompetent and shady. There is no longer a political party that truly represents me (even if they claim they do).
