The European Union surpassed the United States as the first source of pushes to public Git repositories on GitHub, and that doesn't count the alternatives like Gitlab and Codeberg where I assume there's an even larger fraction of European contributions.

AI agent "contributes" PR to matplotlib.
PR gets rejected.
AI agent *writes and publishes blog to shame the maintainer*.

What a time to be alive.

Struggling to resize windows on macOS Tahoe? Here’s why.

https://noheger.at/blog/2026/01/11/the-struggle-of-resizing-windows-on-macos-tahoe/

Is it me or the app switcher UI (cmd-Tab) is broken on Tahoe? The halo highlighting the selected app is so small that it becomes invisible, leaving just the app name as a hint of what's selected. I often miss it at first glance. (@atpfm @siracusa)

Comparison of many vs fewer apps open.

@upgrade on forcing the Apple Watch to play Apple Music to connected AirPods when leaving the house (instead of attempting to connect to the iPhone): this has been driving me nuts too and I've found that for me, asking Siri "Play music" works much more reliably (surprisingly 🙃) than using the Music app UI on the Watch.
I feel kind of stupid for never thinking of doing this before, makes finding blocks of code with #pragma mark so much easier.
About "Vibecoding" - Siracusa on point as usual 👌🏻
I know it might seem crazy to pay for web search. I find Kagi so useful, it’s among the best subscription values I pay for each month. It’s just plain better than Google’s or anyone else’s results. The fact that it’s ad-free is a bonus, not for me the primary reason I gladly pay. I pay because it’s better. It’s like the HBO of web search.

I’ve been using Kagi for searching the web for two months now. I love it so much I’ve just paid for an annual subscription. Try it. No adverts, no AI slop, just the refreshing experience of finding what you are actually searching for. #Kagi https://kagi.com

Attached: 1 image I am here to announce that I have decreased #spam on my web contact form from 1 message every 15 minutes (for months straight) to 0 messages in the last week by adding a "I am a spam bot" radio button. I am not joking. No I am not using something like ReCaptcha, I literally just added a radio button to the list.
