@aristofontes always a good day when that happens.
@scottjenson I saw a headline that someone beat the game in like 90 minutes.
@kjhealy “knew Chet’s son at Andover” make me snort.
@kjhealy fire! 🤙🏽

Perfect example of one of the dozen or so reasons why Mastodon is doomed to relative obscurity and Bluesky is going to thrive: petulant nannyism:

Apparently someone is threatening to have the instance I’m on defederated if they don’t get rid of me, because I posted that the Mastodon DM system is dangerously broken and non-intuitive. So, if either of those things happen, it was nice knowing you all. (Well, some of you all, anyway.)

@kjhealy I wonder what the back of the napkin sociological theory on this is, but my back of the napkin institutional theory is that it is a woke arms race, but not with resources (like universities and their gyms). Rather, they’re signaling to potential students and rival programs who has comparative advantage in curriculum by exerting resources to demonstrate their commitment to social justice.
@gruber If I was prompted to tip on an electronic device—even a “cheap” phone to say nothing of an expensive laptop, monitory, or what not—I’d scoff, cancel the sale and go to Amazon. I don’t think I would even be able to hold back my contempt.
@per @CoffeeBaseball at the top, just above peer reviewed research, since it is says “I get my shit done!” 🤙🏽

I’m devastated to learn that @Prof_BearB passed away. He was a great mentor and always gracious to junior scholars in IR. What a heartbreaking loss for his family, for Ohio State, and for those in IR.

“Our dear colleague, Bear Braumoeller, passed away this morning in Oslo after a sudden, brief illness. Words cannot express our feelings of profound sadness. As we know more, we will post plans for events in his memory.”

I have a student this semester who has turned in every single writing assignment (i.e., all the graded assignments) without a single paragraph break.

I'm sitting on a 12 page critical book review that is one long paragraph. #academe #polisci
