I work on developer tools, I'm part of the #Demoscene. I create realtime animations in 8 to 64kB.

What would it look like if you were to design a video game, whose target audience are language learners? As I view it, it's the opposite of gamification in learning apps, it's about making an actual game and making sure it's accessible to a wider, multilingual audience.

I'm sharing my thoughts in a blog post, with a plan of actually doing it. I would love to hear your thoughts on this!

I released a new 8kB demo this weekend at the Revision demoparty; it ranked 2nd out of 10!

Really happy with the public reception. Hope you enjoy it too! The code is open-source:

The Sheep and the Biker - Ctrl-Alt-Test

The Sheep and the Biker is a demo in 8kB. What you see and hear fits within a single 8kB Windows executable binary, using procedural generation and compression. This production is a follow up to The Sheep and the Flower. It was released in April 2025, and ranked 2nd out 10 entries at Revision, the […]

Ctrl-Alt-Test

I have published a new 8kB intro (for PC, Windows) this weekend. The feedback has been very good so far. You'll find the download link, YouTube link and source code here: https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=98212

Enjoy the night ride! Fully procedural content, all the graphics are done in a single shader.

I'm thrilled to share a personal project – the creation of an animated movie (a demoscene demo) in just 8kB.

https://www.ctrl-alt-test.fr/2024/how-we-made-an-animated-movie-in-8kb/

The project was completed last year, but I wanted to write a full blog post to better explain what it is exactly and how it works.

Join me on this technical adventure where creativity meets constraints, and explore some fascinating demoscene techniques.

It's also trending on HackerNews. In case you want to discuss it there: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39121101

How we made an animated movie in 8kB - Ctrl-Alt-Test

The Sheep and the Flower - a demoscene production and real-time animation that looks like a standard short animated movie, in just 8kB

Ctrl-Alt-Test

After months of work, I have finished my first demo in 8kB.

Our goal was to make something that looks like a short animated movie, with a story, decent graphics, animations, camera work and a matching music to convey the different emotions. All that in a 8kB Windows executable.

The source code is now published.

The Sheep and the Flower - Ctrl-Alt-Test

The Sheep and the Flower is a demo in 8kB, created as a collaboration with the group Razor 1911. What you see and hear fits within a single 8kB Windows executable binary, using procedural generation and compression. The moral of the story is left as an exercise to the viewer. The code was written by […]

I've just published this article on a blog:

If you're interested in the demoscene, procedural generation, or if you're just curious to know how 64kB intros are made, you might find it interesting.

Procedural 3D mesh generation in a 64kB intro - Ctrl-Alt-Test

In this third article of our series on the making of a 64kB intro, we present how we use and combine a few simple techniques to create a variety of procedural 3D meshes for very few bytes.

Ctrl-Alt-Test

In 2010, I was still discovering the #demoscene, and I tried to make my first demo with some friends. We targeted 64kB (for the full animation, music, textures, etc). After 8 months of work, we published this:
https://www.ctrl-alt-test.fr/productions/b-incubation/

We had to procedurally generate everything. We totally underestimated the work needed for transitions and for the camera control.

Lots of things went wrong, but I'm still very happy with the result.

Source code included.

B - Incubation - Ctrl-Alt-Test

A cube is born, and struggles to find his place in a world of cubes. The opening scene is a tongue in cheek reference to the spinning cube most beginners start with when learning OpenGL or DirectX. The story later includes references to some milestone video games. B – Incubation is a 64k intro, but […]
