oh my god, so she doesnt put these two particular pieces together in this article, but this the first time i realized that the root of the perception that "kids used to be healthier" is literally survivorship bias. Its just literally a eugenicist interpretation of the data. Kids with underlying health conditions who would have died of infection 200 yrs ago now make it to adulthood, and those health conditions become starkly more prevalent in the population
