Went to husband’s six month follow up post DVT. (It’s really been seven months, this is six months since switching to maintenance medications.) Cutting his dose in half for long term maintenance, while also restarting it (he’d stopped for the dental emergency and they hadn’t said he should restart yet, but now he has), come back annually.
The doctor is in the cancer wing but also treats non-cancer patients. There was a screen in the exam room with ads for cancer drugs. Yay US healthcare system.
My boss has been (loosely) pushing AI adoption into our goals. He’s generally pretty okay so I’ve just been ignoring it. Meanwhile we were talking about whether IT could replace my coworker’s computer that is having a minor issue with the microphone, and I commented that they might not, because computers and components have become expensive and scarce. And my boss was unaware of this, and I don’t know if he’s clueless or if I’m just terminally online??
Apparently husband asked how much it would cost to have gas during his tooth extraction, they said $300, so he declined it. When he was done they told him he’d actually passed out during! They had him sit in recovery for a while until they were sure his blood pressure was no longer crashed out.
Meanwhile they prescribed him some narcotics because he can’t have NSAIDs. The insurance wanted a prior authorization. Turns out the out of pocket was $15 so I’m just getting them. Honestly.
Husband cracked a tooth but he’s on blood thinners so he has to wait until Monday to have it out (48 hours off the medicine). Meanwhile my ER visit wiped out our HSA so gonna be dipping into savings for this one! Woo.
Anyway enjoy this sock knitting I’m doing because I gotta be upbeat about something.
Raki is full of kitten energy and Ouzo, while still energetic and playful, is quickly overwhelmed by Raki’s chaos. My husband suggested letting them fight it out and get it out of their systems, but I think that’s a bad plan - it gets them into the habit and lets them think beating up on each other is okay. So I intervene every time.
I’ve been trying to teach Ouzo that the tower is a safe place to “hide” from Raki when he gets stressed out. He’s already been sitting up high a lot, but now when they start fussing and hissing I have been putting Ouzo right on top and petting him until he settles. (He’s surprisingly good at staying where he’s put, for a cat.) Yesterday there was a spat and I scolded, then called Ouzo over and tapped the tower with my hand, and he came up. So that’s progress.
Okay someone please come save me from athletic cats
#caturdayHad my annual female health visit today. Just a pelvic and breast exam and a discussion of perimenopause symptoms, as it is one year since I started HRT. She mentioned that her notes said I’d been suffering from some of “the most severe perimenopause symptoms we’ve seen” which was a surprise. I knew I was uncomfortable but I assumed it was in the normal range! Still having some breakthrough hot flashes during certain times of the month, but not like it was.
The latest in house panther news:
-Raki got high on catnip and decided it was a great idea to wrestle Ouzo. Ouzo took it as an attack and spent the next six hours furious, chasing Raki every time he saw him. They both spent a lot of time being locked in various rooms that day.
-I turned towards the kitchen to investigate a noise and saw Raki was on the floor, not on the counter. Then I blinked and he was on the fridge. Athletic little brat. (Then he wiped all his dust off on my pants.)
She was showing it off to people yesterday. “Lisa made it!” One guy jokingly said to me, “Where’s my hat?” “You didn’t ask.” A girl replied “I AM ASKING!” Hah. She apparently loves it so much she wants the same pattern, but black on white. I showed her some other similar patterns by the same designer, and she considered them, but decided she liked the Toph best. Anyway I have to run out and get some white yarn, I had black in my stash.
