It's quite the refreshing change from what we're used to.
@Axel1973 @iFixit Electroplating is actually relatively simple for an average person to perform, you can use common weak acids for electrolyte, I have even had somewhat good results with 30% acetic acid (Cleaning vinegar).
All you need is your donor electrode, your electrolyte solution, your receiver electrode, and a low current dc power source, I used to make copper plated quarters and give them out as novelties.
Most FOSS projects: 1-5 patches a year.
HomeAssistant: 1-5 patches an hour.
Every time i check the settings page i have 10 updates to install. 😆
Seriously though thanks for all the hard work.
@nimx @strule @itsfoss I agree, as always the rich kids get to play with the new toys first, and they don't have our best interests at heart. Quite the opposite.
In defense of vibecoding though, I had to roll a script to make fail2ban simple for (very) non-tech users, I wouldn't put effort to code this for just a few users, instead I had an LLM do it and got an elegant solution, after fully checking over the code, i changed a few things and actually learned a bit about bash in the processes.
@Axomamma I read just what you wrote and responded with my own perspective.
The real question is:
Do I have bad reading comprehension, or do you have bad writing skills?
Last i checked the word "Vanish" implies something passing out of existence entirely.
Not just losing access to it.
@Axomamma @internetarchive I get where you're coming from, but it's not like all the data is stored on VRAM. A loss of infrastructure doesnt destroy the archive, it just temporarily destroys your access to it.
If my data wiped everytime my rack lost mains power I'd be giving all my equipment away and living in the woods by now. 😅
They're protecting their bottom line in the age of AI.
Even popular news providers RSS feeds are being shut down to prevent scraping.
I'm not saying its the right thing to do, but I am saying that a petition isn't going to change anyones mind here.
