"Mayor Daniel Lurie's sweeping reform effort to speed up San Francisco’s notoriously unwieldy permitting process has now yielded its first concrete legislative proposal.

The recently introduced measure from Supervisor Joel Engardio is intended to make it easier for homeowners to repair or replace aging structures in their backyards, including stairs, decks, balconies or even home additions like bay windows or solariums.

“We want people to spend less time at the Planning Department and more time just enjoying their lives at their home,” Engardio said."

Mayor Lurie said that Engardio’s proposed reforms “are common sense changes that will make basic home projects more cost-effective, transparent, and efficient for residents across the city."

We're increasingly hearing that paid signature gatherers for the Recall Engardio campaign are telling voters that the recall would help re-open the Great Highway.

This is a lie.

To be very clear: the recall would remove Supervisor Engardio from office. That’s all. It doesn’t reverse Prop K or re-open the Great Highway.

This is a great thing for our city to be making progress on this heartbreaking public health crisis and while I'm disappointed that Mayor London Breed will not get the credit she deserves for creating the conditions for this change, of course we want to see Mayor-Elect Daniel Lurie succeed in continuing to build on this, for the benefit of our city.

"Muni is as popular as ever. But an effort to boost its funding to prevent service cuts could fail if a simultaneous move to reform San Francisco’s business taxes proves to be even more popular.

That’s because of a provision buried deep within the text of Proposition M, the business-tax reform measure on the November ballot. That provision essentially declares that it and Proposition L, which would increase taxes on Waymo, Lyft and Uber to fund Muni, are in conflict.

Thanks to that provision — Section 14 of 16, found on page 109 of the 110-page measure — Prop. L can win a majority and still lose if Prop. M attracts more votes."
