@georgetakei The hypocrisy of Republicans is staggering. Like all authoritarian religious talibans, their public stances on ´morality’ and ‘decency’ are just covers for their depravity and perversion. Items that they hide very well. From a House Speaker who was a pedophile, to a President who is a convicted sex offender, the Party has been and is populated by psychopaths and sick people. Maybe not all GOPers are perverts but most perverts are GOPers.

@bufalo1973 Aunque haya algo de esa “inferioridad de Doña Lucinda” en gente de clase trabajadora, existen otros componentes que son iguales de fuertes. El racismo y la xenofobia, por ejemplo. Cuando los medios de derecha mienten como bellacos, diciendo que a los inmigrantes se les subvenciona con salarios de dos mil euros, es lógico que quien compra esos bulos mientras se desloma trabajando por menos de mil euros, se cabree. También está la religión, demonizando al progreso… y me dejo otros.

@georgetakei During inquisition times, the worst torturers were the so-called converts. Since they were under suspicion by virtue of having been non-Christians, they overcompensated by being crueler and more irrational than old-time Christians. That was their way to prove their loyalty to the new faith. I find some of that in all color folks who choose to embrace the Republican Party. Unfortunately, rank bigotry doesn’t clear the color of their skin, as they seem to hope for.

@el_pais Ese es el cáncer de la pureza ideológica que carcome a la izquierda más radical. En lugar de enfocarse en el objetivo de lograr conquistas para el bienestar del pueblo, así sean parciales y mejorables en el tiempo; por un quítame-esas-comas y el apego a lo que dicta “su doctrina”, se sabotea el progreso y se escoge la nada. Lo mismo ocurre con la pugna por el liderazgo: todos somos iguales pero algunos lo son más que otros.

@bbcworld This should surprise no one. Erdogan is not any better than Orban, Putin, Noriega or Xi. Autocrats don’t give a fig about anybody but themselves. In their twisted minds, the country is there only for their benefit and they believe they own it. The inhabitants mean absolutely nothing beyond being prey, pawns, supporters & sources to be exploited.

@CNN Israeli settlements are deadly poison to a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian tragedy. Right wing politicians know it and promote their expansion. Until the average Israeli comes to her senses and rejects this fascist move, the health of their democracy will face increasing damage. The end of the conflict is at the heart of Israel’s survival.

@bbcworld Perhaps it could be argued that some of the reticence shown by the EU to admit Turkey as a member is grounded on racism and prejudice but nobody can deny that Turkish democracy leaves a great deal to be desired. Erdogan is no better than Putin when it comes to abusing his powers. The saddest part of this story isn’t that Turkey is not evolving politically but that places like Hungary & Poland are regressing and becoming autocracies. Democracy is a continuous struggle.
