Good luck watching without a little cry. I love this so much and don't care if that makes me a wanker. #GravyDay #Straya

(You do you! But this is how to opt out.)

ETA: They're mid-rollout and I don't think they've said which regions and tiers will eventually be affected, YMMV

@avatastic I decided not to wait around and just switched over, and I have to say I'm already super impressed. The first 10GB is free, but I never come even close to that.
@avatastic It does, and at this point I'm willing to go paid to protect client assets - one of my freelance gigs does file transfers through Dropbox and while it's very low-key as far as these things go (like it's not under NDA or anything) I like to protect my clients!
Is there cloud computing for me to file share that's NOT currently having security access issues (OpenAI for Dropbox, Google Drive... being Google Drive), or do I need to start sending USB sticks via pigeon?
My god, the synchronicities… found this from my partner sharing it on our collective #Signal group. The timing… the synchronicity. Wow. #PoliticalCartoon #Economics #Revolution

Dropbox has started to give your files to OpenAI.

They claim it's only if you use their AI tools, and they claim OpenAI will use your data for only 30 days and then delete it. I think that's a terrible abuse of user rights and a security disaster waiting to happen.

Confusingly, they've rolled-out this malfeature to some users but not all (yet). My partner & me compared the "Settings" page on our Dropbox accounts — the "Third-Party AI" tab is there for one of us but not the other.

The setting is switched on by default. This is a "dark pattern" (also known as a "deceptive design pattern") that ignores user consent. If you don't know about it, you can't opt-out. Worryingly, if you're slow to opt-out then there's a chance they've scraped your data already. It's a harsh reminder of the saying "If you're not paying for the product, you are the product".

@tbqtalks *hugs* oh bud.

@frogglin I feel like if it was that necessary she should have made it a requirement when buying the car.

Also I've never seen a back seat cupholder in my life.

@Enthusiamy I have every bit of faith that whatever is next, you will do it with your typical charm and zest.
