@tris Sorry, I might have inferred that these two config files are to configure Tor itself. This is about configuring OS updates and the package manager for Tor (so the other way around.)

@tris #HardenedBSD ships with sample #Tor configuration files for its package repos. This section of the documentation is about enabling use of those .onion endpoints.

For the OS updating mechanism (hbsd-update): https://git.hardenedbsd.org/hardenedbsd/HardenedBSD/-/blob/hardened/current/master/usr.sbin/hbsd-update/hbsd-update.tor.conf?ref_type=heads

For the package repo: https://git.hardenedbsd.org/hardenedbsd/HardenedBSD/-/blob/hardened/current/master/usr.sbin/pkg/HardenedBSD.tor.conf?ref_type=heads

I've added some basic instructions on accessing #HardenedBSD resources (package repos and OS binary updates) over #Tor here: https://git.hardenedbsd.org/hardenedbsd/HardenedBSD/-/wikis/home#accessing-hardenedbsd-resources-through-tor

I think some refinements could be made, but this is at least an initial draft. If anyone has any ideas for further refinement, please let me know.

@ElysianEve @cR0w it would be great to have multiple volunteers helping with infrastructure, but that's not always possible. A little compassion for those in that situation helps reduce burnout of those volunteers.

Let's try to focus on helping each other out. The original post doesn't; it only serves to contribute to burnout.

@ElysianEve @cR0w that piece of context (for-profit organizations with multiple employees) is entirely missing from the original post.

Not every machine out there is driven by for-profit organizations with multiple employees.

The original post is broad enough to encapsulate machines administered by only a single person--a single volunteer, perhaps.

@cR0w

this reads to me like: be a slave to the machine. never take a day off. never take care of yourself out of fear of missing a single patch in the hundreds/thousands of components that make up today's machines.

I don't agree with that sentiment.

Today: body aches and chills. Can I inhabit someone else's body? I'm sick of mine and want either a refund or exchange.
