At nights I become a @ScummVM dev
I don't know what the story behind the "HELP! Charity Compilation" is, and I'm familiar with less than half of the games on it. But it's nice it is to see that they went with some genuinely good ones, rather than just scraping the bottom of the shareware barrel.
I know Prince of Persia and The Case of the Serrated Scalpel alone would have been well worth the $9.50 (shipping cost included) I ended up paying for it.
Or at least it would if I didn't already have those two. 😀
ScummVM 2026.2.0 "Railmonicon" sees the light!
Three months have passed since the last release, and here we are again, with our new release approach. We are both worried and excited, but hope that in the current reality of the absence of pre-release testing, with more frequent releases, we will be able to deliver critical fixes faster.
Three months have passed, but the amount of new features is very noticeable!

Heh, so yeah it's finally been officially revealed that the Mac port of Day of the Tentacle I did also contained a stealth Mac port of the original Maniac Mansion to the Mac.
In the PC version of DoTT you can just use Weird Ed's computer and it dumps you into Maniac, and I had thought (after all these years) I made it work the same way on the Mac. But it turns out my memory had some faulty bits and, while it did work, it only works after you try it five times.
This was a concession to our Mac QA department, which was small, and a bit overwhelmed with the unanticipated ports of DoTT and Sam & Max. They didn't really have the bandwidth to stress test the Maniac Mansion port, so I made it a bit more of an Easter egg than it was on the PC.

@aaronsgiles Good thing too, because it says on the box that Maniac Mansion is included. I've heard the "Enhanced Mac Version, Power Macintosh Native" sticker was supposed to cover that, but if so someone must have missed that memo.
Unfortunately the Easter egg doesn't yet work in ScummVM. Much of the work has been done, but there's currently no easy way to even detect the Mac version of Maniac Mansion.

Software and digital security should rely on verification, rather than trust. I want to strongly encourage more users and consumers of software to verify curl. And ideally require that you could do at least this level of verification of other software components in your dependency chains. Attacks are omnipresent With every source code commit and … Continue reading Don’t trust, verify →
