I am pleased to announce a new project: custom-knit sweaters and pen-plotter prints, designed from my dithered cloud art!

I've been collecting cloud photos for the last few years and applying a modified dithering algorithm to create these designs β€” combine that with a programmable knitting machine, and you get these custom sweaters!

@bigzaphod I’m from PA, been contacted >50 times this election cycle for polling. A few calls, mostly texts

πŸ§΅πŸ“ Let’s talk about optical centering and visual balance in UI design. This post has been making the rounds about iOS 18’s flashlight Live Activity, and it’s probably time we have The Talk.

About precision vs perception in interface design, that is.

@Iconfactory Got it. The Mac app works great as-is, but I want the iOS app to switch between the existing light & dark icon variants automatically on my Home Screen. Thanks for the update!
@Iconfactory Hi! Will Tot be getting iOS 18 automatic icon tinting support?
@scientiffic I 100% pay better attention in classes handwriting, but having physical notebooks/printing out readings is too inconvenient. I’ve always handwritten notes on a tablet (prev iPad, now Daylight) in college. It’s basically impossible for me to pay attention while typing on a laptop in a web browser in class with everything in the world a click away, I’m surprised anyone continues to try

Here we go πŸš€

6 chapters, 14 pages, hundreds of features covered...

My iOS and iPadOS 18 review is now live on MacStories!

I did something different for my 10th annual review: in the age of generative AI, I hired a real artist to illustrate it instead.

It's my most personal review ever. I'm proud of it – especially the conclusion.

Enjoy. ❀️

There is still fun beyond AI.

I posted about my experiment with creating a font with a built-in syntax highlighting, made possible by OpenType COLR table and contextual alternates. Any ideas how to improve?

@brennx0r A coworker in Sonoma got this & it gleefully took over the beginning of every meeting for a week. We all constantly wanted to see goat photos. She said it brought neighbors together too to socialize & watch the goats!
@reichenstein I would use it every day if Writer were available!
