The majority of diffusion models used privacy invasive methods to obtain training data.
You can make the "You put it online!" argument, but few anticipated developments in technology like this, and privacy policy changes are often obscured.
Like the other message in this thread, Google logs everything you upload. And now the use of that data has manifested itself in their LLM and diffusion models, which Proton may now be using as marketing.
@yirggzmb I'm just imagining catching a shark with a the net and its head's just stuck like "welp..."
@yirggzmb Hope your time off goes well though. I definitely needed to take some time to myself back then

Yeah... I think businesses just keep getting greedy. I gave up on discord for any personal conversations like a year ago when they started showing ads when you joined calls, but I didn't expect it to go this far. Hard to keep contact with even irl friends without a bunch of questionable social media accounts.
But I'm glad stuff like mastodon and matrix exist, a server might crap itself but you can always join another or build your own.

The account's description is "100% of toots are FAKES/jokes! I am NOT a journalist."
But this appears to be reported on by 'credible' Norwegian newspapers with headlines like 'Zelenskyj nominert til Nobels frdspris'
It's a bit frustrating to me that a satirical account is posting serious news, but not everyone goes the same lengths as The Onion to post verifiably false articles.
@VeroniqueB99 If you happened to spend an embarrasingly long amount of time looking for sources with more details as well, there seemingly aren't any major English newspapers reporting on this yet.
But Norwegian newspapers are generally headlining with 'Zelenskyj nominert til Nobels fredspris' if you're also looking for more context.
@kontrollierterWahnwitz @GerryT I'm curious as well. But if you can't tell that's really a good thing.
The tell tale for me has always been bugs like flickering or going black when rescaling. Firefox used to default to xwayland for me way back and it was almost unusable until I figured out how to switch.
@lexfeathers I love your music, I've been working on a piano cover of succession.
It's funny I happened to open mastodon at your first post.
@Rainmaker @Daojoan It's a less powerful and durable tablet with the advantage of being storable in a pocket. I see the appeal, but I'd love to know who actually 'needs' it.
@celio As far as I'm aware Cosmic uses WebGPU and renders with Vulkan instead of OpenGL by default which is experimental with the open source drivers still. If your GPU supports NVK then it might work, but I haven't tested.
I'm not sure if there's a workaround to use opengl otherwise.
I haven't messed with the scheduler. Is it lagging when you initially start the system or is it persistent? My setup freezes the first time I open applets and cosmic-files but runs fine after a bit.
