The truth is that Russia is an empire with an imperialist agenda. It was so before NATO, before the US was even founded. By its own officials'' statements, it believes Ukraine is an illegitimate nation, reflecting Russian attitudes towards Ukraine for centuries. Putin compares himself explicitly to Peter the Great.It is pure, classic Russian imperialism, and all the narcissism of the western left cannot make it all about the US.

Jump out of you're going to ignore the security needs of the historical victims of Russian imperialism. Ask Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland whether NATO should exist.

He's not for peace. He's for abolishing NATO and generally letting Russia do as it pleases to Eastern Europe. The entire US Green Party is overrun by neo-tsarists. Contrast to the German Green Party which knows what anti-imperialism means.
