A lot of media outlets are reporting on #ClimateChange this week bc the smoke from wildfires in Canada has settled over highly populated cities in the US.

But climate change is all around us. It’s extreme storms. Severe droughts. Flooding & food insecurity & soaring temps. Insufficient energy infrastructure. The loss of biodiversity & increasing human conflict.

Climate change is everywhere. And we should be talking & reading about it, even when it’s less obvious in the wealthiest nations.

@StrugglingGuitarist the whole country looks terrifying from the outside.

I don’t know how you guys survive at all.

Repeat after me: Wages aren’t pushing up prices. Corporate profits are pushing up prices.

Instead of relying on the Fed to raise interest rates, which could slow the economy toward a recession, Congress and President Biden should be taking aim at corporate price gouging.

"mild" COVID outcomes of people I know personally:
❤️ 1 permanent heart damage
🫁 1 lung capacity at ~60%
🤒 2 ppl w/new autoimmune diagnoses
🧠 1 whose dad has severe personality changes & they're looking at likely Alzheimer's
✋ 1 masseuse changing careers due to hand neuropathy
🚽 1 w/ recurring UTIs, diarrhea, and kidney infections
👶 2 families whose kids have chronic fevers, URIs, and stomach bugs
👃 My own daughter still hasn't fully recovered her sense of smell

The Trump-era rollback of banking regulations was a big mistake.

The proof? Silicon Valley Bank's implosion.

The least Congress can do now is help prevent this type of meltdown from happening again by restoring Dodd-Frank regulations for all banks — regardless of their size.

Why is it that when progressive policies that help the bottom 90 percent are proposed, the question always seems to be, "How will you pay for it?"

But when the top 1 percent ask for bailouts, tax cuts, and subsidies, the question always seems to be, "How much do you need?"

If Elon Musk can afford to lose $1.9 billion in a single day, he can afford a wealth tax.
This is what conservatives sound like when they complain about cancel culture after saying or doing racist, sexist or otherwise abusive things.
The trolley problem: your imagination versus the even sadder reality. (Just got this from a friend who also collects trolley problem variants.)
