Ohhh @marcoarment ! @atpfm
All-terrain doesn't usually include water -- until now. Yangwang, the luxury sub-brand of Chinese manufacturer BYD, has revealed the extended-range U8 SUV that can temporarily tread water. The U8 Premium Edition is designed to weather extreme conditions like flash floods...
I'm pretty certain I never bought into the "God" concept. I can't recall a moment where I looked upwards and really believed down to my mitochondria that a being lived there. It always seemed dubious.
I've always said "I'm grateful to Hebrew School for making me the atheist I am today" but Hebrew School didn't really "make" me an atheist. It iced the atheist cake inside my head.
The more I experienced of people who did believe this God character was real, the more convinced I became that he was completely fictitious. Then, when you read a little history, you realize yeah, not only is the character fictitious, the fiction itself has take on a life of its own - and evolved. Also important - the fiction deepened over time as more people considered it and contributed to it.
But, no matter how much the fiction evolved and deepened, it never stopped being a fiction. In addition to being born an atheist, I was born a storyteller. I see everything through a storytelling lens.
Storytellers need to have a psychoanalyst's grasp of the human psyche in order to succeed. How many times has an audience been pulled out of the drama because a character stopped making sense as a human being?
You'd think a Creator Of Everything would be a lot less neurotic, needy and self-obsessed. He'd have more confidence in what he'd created on the grand scale. Humans wouldn't bother him nearly as much as we bother Yahweh in the Bible. Yahweh is the character's actual name. "God" is Yahweh's job title.
And Yahweh, it turns out - if you dig even a little - is mostly the Canaanite deity El. The proof remains in the place names like Isra-EL and Beth EL.
Nothing good happens when people take fictional characters out of their fictional context. That's where a shit-ton of our troubles start. Unreal becomes real.
Maybe it'd be easier to believe in Yahweh if the character was written better. It's easier to believe in James Bond frankly because he makes consistent sense.
🧵 The origins of "transgenderism" and "gender ideology."
Almost every single piece of rhetoric used by Christianist activists against #trans people was used previously against lesbians and gays.
They don't want you to know this....
