One needs a post-doc to operate on Mastodon.
Glad to report that I've been on Mastodon long enough to still not understand how this place works.
Interesting answer to why so many films from the 1970s appear to look very "soft", as if someone put white gauze over the lens. Being a huge admirer of this aesthetic I think I should devote time to understand film stock and preservation.
@rhelune Aren't clothes cheaper in Croatia?
@rhelune Fair deal. I don't understand why many people donÄt follow this secret formula recipe.
@rhelune This is actually what I do. Trash clothes along the way and stock on new clothes for the way back home from my travels. Haven't done it in a while now but it's definitely the way to go.
@rhelune Are you me? Am I hallucinating?
Watched Kenneth Branagh's A Haunting in Venice yesterday and it suffers from great acting and a weak resolution. A one time watch if you go in without expecting too much.

A ★★★ review of A Haunting in Venice (2023)
A movie that relies a lot on character building which goes to waste with the end revelation. Shot and acted well, it felt that the story coudl've used a better treatment for the ending. Not a bad movie by any means but it's damned to be forgettable because of its weak dramatic resolution. Kenneth Branagh is not so convincing as Hercule Poirot but still he makes meat of the character. A one time watch if you walk in without expecting too much.
Did a little meditation on how to write a hard-boiled detective show.
