Leftish urbanist in SF. Furious posting about local politics. Also, lots of other random stuff.

Brain just came up with a theory that transpo urbanists are more anti-cop than housing urbanists because cops are more involved in making transportation shitty. Other than evictions and some occasional interactions, cops aren't making housing worse.

(I have no evidence that this is causal. I think thinky thoughts while waiting for the bill.)

at my old job, engineers would sometimes have LOC in the negatives and that was a point of pride
Out of all the mailers I received this election (oh god so many mailers, what's up with that California?) I think this one got to me the best. conveyed its message in a few words and images. #sfpol

Tonight's #music soundtrack while I pack for vacation is The Unquiet Grave 2019. DJ Melting Girl got me liking the Spider Lilies "The Error Is You" so I bought the album today for #BandcampFriday.

Apparently the main community manager for Birdwatch was laid off. (I haven't seen them confirm it themselves, but another team member took over the community Discord.) So despite Elon saying he liked Birdwatch, that feature is going to be run by a skeleton crew as well. #Twitter
Since they are still employed, it likely means laid off Twitter employees will still see the vesting and other similar periods triggered through Jan. 4th.

According to an email KRON obtained, people are being put on "non-working" status but still getting paid through Jan 4th. That means there's no WARN act violation.

One thing that would be nice for #Mastodon is a plugin system so that server admins could add their own features. For instance, I would spend time trying to make a plugin that deals with off-topic reply guys.

Thought brought to you by yet again seeing how every tweet by Matt Haney comes with 30 unrelated replies from jerkoffs complaining how he hasn't fixed *their* pet issue.

regarding #Mastodon, from a friend of mine in group chat:

Who needs fake Twitter when we have signal to tell our friends every thought that goes thru our head?
