@vruz Well when people talk about "AI" these days they mostly mean LLMs, which are all driven by massive data theft. And also, I know at least ChatGPT was built using tons of awful, exploitative, low-wage labor from poor countries. I think some of that is fundamental to the technology. Not sure about AI more broadly though
@vruz despite its enumerable benefits to the world, the combustion engine has been a massive driver of climate change, which has and will continue to end many human lives. So yes I think it will always make sense to have a critical lens for technology and weigh its pros and cons
