This seems to cover stuff particularly the “what are the cultural norms” section.
I like that we’re encouraged to police ourselves, be courteous and thoughtful of others. I like it a lot!
Isn't it kinda weird that #Mastodon gets described as 'left-leaning' because we handle more strickt rules and don't tolerate things like bullying.. It could be me but I perceive this as 'normal'.
I mean you don't call people all kinds of names in a conversation on the street or in the store right? Even if you don't agree🤔
Somehow it feels the (online) standards for treating each other have declined so much over the past few years
Let them talk, we are a loving and happy community!
Some people think Mastodon is too weird to become popular:
I joined Twitter in 2008. We had to put a "d" in front of a tweet to convert it to a direct message and every other day you had some embarrassing private moments exposed because someone forgot about the “d”. Hashtags were just a community hack, introduced by Chris Messina to somehow tag content. Search? Hah, you wish! Tweets via SMS were supposed to be a thing. Oh, and the daily meet and greet with the failwhale. Totally not weird.
HAPPY ELECTION DAY!
New Yorkers: make sure you’re voting on the
WFP line! Vote yes on all 4 proposals (flip your ballot)! And a vote for Kathy Hochul is a vote against having a right-wing, anti-choice, election denying governor! It’s really important that you get out and vote!
