I have no idea when I first started following Steve Silberman online, but he soon followed me back and for many years (decades?) now we have connected across multiple online social networks. So I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing. He was an interesting and multifaceted individual: a former assistant to Allen Ginsberg, a deadhead (nobody's perfect), a close personal friends of the singer David Crosby, a tech writer, and the author of one of the most important books on autism.

Harry Lime in The Third Man could run for president today with a speech like this:

“You're just a little mixed up about things...in general. Nobody thinks in terms...of human beings. Governments don't, so why should we? They talk about the people, and the Proletariat... I talk about the suckers and the mugs...
It's the same thing. They have their five-year plan, and so have I.”
