rOtring 600 - Let's add a hidden ring that tells the user the lead type.

rOtring 800 - Let's add to that a sleeve that protects the lead in a pocket.

Uni Kuru Toga - Lets also rotate the lead so that it remains sharp.

Pentel Orenz Nero - Instead, we'll advance the lead automatically. Oh, and we'll support 0.2mm leads.

Pilot Vanishing Point - oh, heck, lets just have the most sensitive, wettest part of the pen crash into and smear the door every time it's used.

@mfr

Thanks! Very useful. I think that confirms the "wrong part" theory.

I bought it used at a pen show. I guess I should have checked before leaving. The seller had several, in different states. I suspect that he mix and matched too much.

@mfr

Sorry, ! forgot to ask, can I ask how deep your cap's cage is? Like "below the cap edge" ? Mine is maybe 1mm.

@mfr

Oh ya, champagne cap is perfect. But it's hard to conclude anything, right? *Should* the crosshatch be a slightly different diameter? The champagne cap has a *very* different cage (but it's also newer). <shrug>

@mfr

I have a "champagne and magenta" Elite as well, and its body doesn't like the squeeze either. It goes in but I scratched it testing it.

My other theory is that the inner cap isn't letting the cage slide all the way in, although I'm a little skeptical. I mean, just look at that gap. Also, I'm not sure, but it might narrow the further it goes in.

@totalclaireity

The fastest road in the city I recently moved from was 64km/h (!). The street was very wide, and I'd be miles away from the passing cars.

The city that I moved to has most major streets at 72 or 80. These are skinny tree-lined streets! It's a miracle no one has plowed into a trunk.

I continue to drive 64. :-) And I only ride on weekends mornings.

@mfr

If yours has the crosshatch "body" as well, that's cool. I have one (F) but it doesn't post (completely). I think someone put a "cage" in the cap from a different pen.

Nevertheless, I just took it on a trip. Great travel *or* desk pen.

I would ask, If pedestrians not doing this are so invisible, how will the guarda find them??
