Last year All Day Hey! from @heypresents gave me the surprise opportunity to speak about my passion for #WebComponents and #DesignSystems. It was such a great experience that I went and spoke at a further three conferences 😄

My mom was a primary school teacher in the latter half of the last century. During book-banning debates at her school system in the 1980s — over Dungeons & Dragons themed books, of course; Satanic Panic was in full swing — a speaker who’d been brought in by the banning side said that schools shouldn’t be allowed to teach critical thinking skills because if you needed a thought, God would give it to you. There was much agreement from the audience, she said.
I think about that a lot these days.

Jesus Christ. A government minister on the radio this morning claiming that there is, in effect, a bathroom ban in the UK for trans people following the Supreme Court judgement.
It’s incompatible with human rights law, and it’s an opinion, not a statement of policy. But still, it’s a spectacularly callous violation of human rights.
This Labour government is truly totalitarian.
