DIF-1(+3): Combating drug-resistant malaria parasites

Malaria, which is caused by protozoan parasites in the Plasmodium genus, is a serious health concern globally. The most virulent malaria pathogen, Plasmodium falciparum, is resistant to artemisinin combination therapy, the first line of treatment, necessitating the development of new antimalarial agents. Now, researchers have developed a new antimalarial agent, DIF-1(+3), that is effective against drug-resistant strains and can contribute to the development of new drugs and to eliminating malaria.

Last week was International Nature Journaling Week and it was so fun. The results are weird, even for me. Which makes it especially fun. Thanks to the organizing team, and the inspiring beings I spent time with: avocado pit, zinnia, potato, spider plant, wind poppy pod, eucalyptus leaf, soil. I have much to learn about making things in a pie.
