Pioneer of #IrishMastodon

There are so few on #IrishMastodon that all those on it to date shall, by the power vested in me by sheer assertion, be designated as digital pioneers.

My bio has been edited accordingly.

N.b. "Pioneers" as in the fun movie stereotype having coonskin hats and tomahawks not the religious, non-drinking, type.

Remember follow Friday #ff on twitter or something like that? Is there similar on Mastodon?

Some thoughts on the "Lexodus" from Twitter to Mastodon

And why Mastodon is inherently more attractive to any liberal and how it is geared for constructive exchanges

https://davidallengreen.com/2022/11/from-twitter-to-mastodon/

Sacrilegious as this may be, it is hard not to see the problems with Mastodon's federated division of its userbase, especially given the self-categorisation required on sign-up (forcing echo chambers that society could really do without these days).

Maybe Musk will annoy Twitter folk enough to force them through anything. More likely, others e.g. the bluesky folk, will give people an easier alternative in time.

An article proposing the solution to the UK's awkward reality problem is yet more right-wing think tanks to join the horde that seemingly never leave BBC studios.

Conflating "the left" with reality shows the author is close to a road to Damascus moment.

The Tories have achieved almost nothing because they failed to grasp the strength of their opponents

Main problem with Mastodon is that it's userbase isn't big enough to support the model it want to operate.

Everything else e.g. no comment RTing is fixable.

I'd love to see any government anywhere actually address this.

This is pretty damming, keeping in mind how bloody awful defamation law is in the UK for those involved.

Basically, defamation suits are awful playthings for the rich where ever you are.

When the NI Protocol tales dies away, as before, most GB produced products will either not be available in NI or only available with massive postage charge.

This is due to ... the sea.

Reality is a cruel mistress.
