@daringfireball I'm waiting for a crossover event with PlayStation's Astro Bot.
@daringfireball Your take on Zaslav, based on a tweet, has a major flaw. Zaslav didn't "kill" Warner Bros. The company was mostly doomed by mismanagement during the AT&T years, resulting in huge losses. That's why AT&T eventually unloaded it on Discovery, with the merger that constituted the huge debt. Zaslav wasn't interested in restoring WB to its former glory. He is basically a scrap merchant, who was there to stop the bleeding, until the assets would look good enough for another buyer.
@bibipov @daringfireball The headline is wrong. It has sold more tickets in the UK. There's just one ticket sold for the London premiere (a figure expected however to increase eventually by 100, 1,000 or even 2,000% based on the rule of Trump percentages).

“I’m curious why iMessage isn’t blocked too.”

You want apparatchiks to have green bubbles like mere peasants?

@daringfireball No, it's not Warner or HBO Max that botched the episodes. They didn't bother to check them, but the problem is with the original studio, Lionsgate. It looks like LG went back to the original film negative for the early seasons (the crew switched to Arri Alexa and digital during season 5), rescanned them in 4K, but forgot that some shots featured CGI, like mattes to hide equipment or technicians. Hence these blunders. HBO Max simply has exclusive rights on the 4K versions.
@daringfireball Facebook is now basically all crap, "AI slop", and my new hobby is to find where these public pages, that only exist because they want to take a piece of the monetization program, come from, info that's quite hidden by Facebook.
Many public pages pushing made-up news against Zohran Mamdani are actually from India. They make money through pushing American bigots, the very people who would regard them as subhumans, to express their racist ideas even louder.
@daringfireball The Walther PPK wasn't "Ian Fleming's favorite gun". In the novels, Bond would use a Beretta 418 revolver. Starting with From Russia with Love, he switches to the Walther PPK. It all comes from an expert writing a letter to Ian Fleming to explain to him that the Beretta has lots of issues, and that Bond would be more effective with the PPK. Fleming loved the recommandation and then called the Quartermaster (aka Q) Major Boothroyd as a tribute to the expert, Geoffrey Boothroyd.
@daringfireball Atari was big in Europe, especially Germany, with the ST. For 8-bit computing, the UK had the Sinclair Spectrum, Germany the Commodore 64 and France the Amstrad CPC. For 16-bit, it was split more evenly between the ST and the Amiga, except in Germany, where they loved the ST. As other people have said, Atari, due to having the MIDI interface fully integrated, was much used by musicians. Logic Pro, like Cubase, was originally a ST app, called Creator (or Notator).
@daringfireball As season 6 is supposed to combine books 6 and 7, that means that they will adapt all eight novels so far in the series. And there's speculation that the ninth book, Clown Town, which is supposed to be published in September, while season 5 will air, might be the final one, so we may even get season 8.
@daringfireball Basically, they're trying to target the market for high schools and students, and compete with Chromebooks.
