New blog post: Hello World
Hi! I am Jürgen and I now have a blog. Here's the why and the how.
@brad_frost Browsers on iOS all use webkit under the hood. Android doesn't have this requirement.
The app store situation is also pretty weird. Android I think allows sideloading apps, but is moving to more restrictions?
Apple meanwhile is starting to be more open about alternative app download sources, but only in the EU, and still with some verification?
@brad_frost I haven't switched recently and don't really know about spec diffs, but if you use macOS, their walled garden interops pretty nicely. I'm not super happy with the iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe updates design-wise, but I suppose they'll sort it out.
Some interop stuff I like - Keychain (password sync), iCloud file sync (e.g. syncing an Obsidian Vault), Continuity Camera (the iPhone camera is a much better webcam than the Macbook Pro's webcam), copy-paste sync from device to device etc.
A lot of my Android using buddies resent the lack of options to customize, but I gotta say, I don't really miss those opportunities on my phone.
Wife: Where are all the coffee filters?
Me:
@davatron5000 @nolan I'm not really a dev by trade, but in an utilitarian sense, this resonates with my experience. However - and this may be naive - there are imho so many other broader implications of the tech that make my stomach churn even when I try using it responsibly.
Disclaimer: I pay for Claude Code Pro and find it helpful for some things, but kinda wish it wasn't a thing.
