do all professors have to navigate a gauntlet of half broken webapps? Like:

* an expense report wasn’t loading because an http 404 was cached in the browser. A hard refresh fixed it.
* a grant report system for linking pubs to a grant wasn’t loading due to a cors issue. Relaunching chrome with flags to *disable cors* fixed it.

It’s ludicrous, and there’s never anyone to call to complain. And what happens to those who can’t meet deadlines because of this nonsense?

ZFS is magical. One of my drives failed, so I powered down, slid it out, popped a new one in, turned computer back on, did a zpool replace, and was done. No other commands for formatting or mounting or anything. And the file system was usable the entire time.
