Kinda proud of myself.
A few days ago, I had never heard of mastodon.
This morning, I set up my own instance.
It doesn't work yet, and the domain produces a cute error, but I'm getting there. Feel free to help if you know what I'm doing wrong!

May I make a suggestion? It can feel weird here at first. I think if you have just joined, engage with those you follow. You will be seen and will get involved in the conversation. Remember to not just like toots, but to also boost. I have tried to follow back everyone that has followed me.
Please follow new accounts, don’t leave them lonely. We want them all to stay so we should be supporting everyone making the leap from Twitter to Mastodon. It’s logical 🖖

Going on 9 years of not having a "real job," and my resume is basically a dusty ancient document.
Basically, my proudest achievement in the last 2.5 years is not getting COVID, so I actually thought about putting that on my resume for a minute or two.
Then I said f-it and closed the document.
It’s almost like an abusive relationship. I don’t know what to talk about.
I keep looking at that blazing trainwreck but I don’t want to give it oxygen.
There is too much else going on in the world right now for me to waste time thinking about that dumpster fire.
I can read books. I can practice the piano. I can work out. Sorta (boo, tendinitis). So why am I looking back at that cesspool?
Help me move on.
So I just found out that Mastodon DMs can be read by instance owners.
To some, that may not be clear by the small warning at the top of the screen when you want to DM someone.
Others may not care.
Research your instance owners. If you don’t mind them snooping on your DMs, cool. But some of these people are just random internet peeps that may not have the best intentions.
Be careful everyone. Treating DMs as public messages is the best approach, IMO.
