Oh, time for another bio? Well, most of you who will follow me or who I follow already know who I am. I live in New York State. I have several interests, including cooking, reading, watching several series of Star Trek, Harry Potter, and I like most kinds of music. I post about whatever random stuff comes to mind.
@douglas2005 i'm running on iOS 17 and have had problems with the Walmart app now for a few weeks. As soon as you go to search something, and keep swiping right past the first item, it won't read anymore to you. I had someone look at the screen with me and they said it won't even let you move past the cell. You can sort of work around it by scrolling up with three fingers and going to the next choice, but that's pretty tedious if you're going back-and-forth with a lot of items.
@tristan thanks for writing this. I've been having the same problem with a financial app that I use where voiceover won't read the account names or amounts, unless you double tap on each account and go into it. The problem started just a few days ago. At first I wondered if I had done something to mess it up. Then I wondered if the financial place did that on purpose because maybe somebody complained about their stuff just being blurted out.
@JamminJerry I have those yak tracks too, and they are great for keeping myself up when there's lots of ice and snow. The driveway here has a very steep incline down, and those things are a godsend.
@InsaneAtheist @alyssa6595 I can appreciate where you're coming from with this. In my younger days when I used to travel more often, it was always hard to come back home, wherever home was. I really felt it when I'd go visit my family from out of state. I know that's a slightly different situation than what you are dealing with, but I definitely get missing someone.
@InsaneAtheist I probably wouldn't have minded her asking those questions under different circumstances. But when I'm trying to learn how to use the equipment they gave me, it was just a bad time for it. She was sure I had to have an aid come in to help me at least once a day. And how would I find something if it dropped? And how do I cook food safely? It took a lot of patience to deal with, and i'm not sure if what I told her really made any difference.
@technolass I have a bad time with buying shoes also. I've got plantar fasciitis, so the right supports are a big deal for me. There aren't a lot of stores in this area that have good shoes for people who have that condition.
@alpuzz i've considered switching phones because Siri has gotten so bad. Dictation hardly works for me anymore. I also used to use it to look up words I wasn't sure how to spell. But that doesn't really work anymore either. And never mind using it to open apps if I am in a hurry and I don't want to be bothered looking for it, because Siri does everything but open the app. I think for the prices they're charging for these phones, they really need to do better.
@lynnskyi I haven't read the Alex Delaware series in several years. Maybe I should get into that again. I really enjoyed when the bough breaks. Thanks for the idea.
@InsaneAtheist what might've helped somewhat with that was going to a smaller family owned store. They didn't have exactly the same stove I got in stock, but they were willing to special order it for me. I probably would not have gotten that out of a place like Home Depot or Lowe's.
