@jonathoda Do you know if anyone has looked at the economic (research commercialization / diffusion of innovation) aspects of this stuff? I can't stop thinking about the fact that 4 of the 5 "golden age" systems you mentioned were only intended as research tools/projects, and the remaining 1 (HyperCard) was only commercially successful because Atkinson strongarmed Sculley into bundling it with every Mac.
