The recent influx of #twitter users to Mastodon instances feels like a huge shift in the political economy.
Do the newbies get to vote? Does every instance get to be a fiefdom? I find myself looking at the whole thing through a political lense.
I recon it's both and neither depending on where you're looking. I'm just happy that the infosec.exchange instance has a lot of users that I was in coalition with prior to migration. And I was a big fan of @jerry's podcast https://defensivesecurity.org/.
It's weird. Feels like one of my favorite NPR hosts is running things. I already have a relationship (one-sided) and a lot of trust. Even the model of begging for subscription dollars feels familiar. You'll post differently as a member. 😘
