GrapheneOS is NOT going anywhere.
GrapheneOS will CONTINUE to support existing devices.
GrapheneOS WILL be ported to Android 16 as planned.

Please read below for more details, help get the message out that despite recent manoeuvres by Google, GrapheneOS will overcome.

Many companies and individuals are trying to mislead people about the future of GrapheneOS to promote their insecure products and services. GrapheneOS is not going anywhere. We've made it clear we're shipping Android 16 soon and that the supported devices will remain supported.

As an example of what we would be able to do even with an entirely standard reference device, we could add hardware support for our duress PIN/password feature to the secure element so that successfully exploiting the OS could not bypass it. We could do a whole lot with firmware.
We want to be building privacy and security features. We don't want to be wasting our efforts on adding device support and other basic functionality to AOSP. It appears the only way we're going to be able to do that is paying millions of dollars to an ODM to have a proper base.
Paying an ODM to make a Snapdragon device for us is increasingly appealing. We would have all the device support code we need, could build it with compiler-based hardening and would be able to harden a lot of the device's firmware. We could also make secure element applets.

Google has publicly released AOSP 16 today.

Android 16 porting work is now starting immediately.

We will be working around the clock until you get an OTA on your device with Android 16.

I've been using KeePass for ~5 months and it's been great.

#Android #FOSS launcher:

I just have to recommend #μLauncher to EVERYONE! My whole smartphone experience is a million times better when using it!

https://launcher.jrpie.de/#idea

When using this launcher, there are basically no more icons on the homescreen. Widgets are allowed. Apps are now launched through gestures or through a search that automatically launches an app when it becomes the sole search result.

For me personally this is a gamechanger since I actually just open the app that I want to check in that moment. Often I think "let me check xy" then I take my phone, get distracted, open z instead of xy to see "what's up" lol. This way there is no distraction.

I would also say that it slightly enhances #privacy against shoulder-surfing, not giving away info about installed apps when the homescreen is open.

Thanks to @josh for the recommendation through his newsletter!

μLauncher # µLauncher is an Android home screen that lets you launch apps using swipe gestures and button presses. It is minimal, efficient and free of distraction. The source code is available on GitHub and on my Forgejo instance. You can also get it on Google Play, but I don’t recommend that. µLauncher is a fork of finnmglas’s app Launcher. An incomplete list of changes can be found here.

Making an image of the drive, gotta keep it cool. The A+ course didn't have this in it years ago, but maybe they suggest it now.

Following our port to Android 16, providing similar features for Camera, Microphone and Location will be among our top priorities.

For Location, it will allow setting a per-app location instead of granting the permission. Android has Mock Location already, but it's a global.

Reminder to go through the apps on your phone & computer.

Don’t use it? Delete it.
Installed it and forgot (that’s me)? Delete it.
Too distracting? Delete it.

If you're curious, I made a page with the apps I use — https://sideofburritos.com/docs/setup-guides/what-i-use/
