Ex educator now living in rural Qld on Ugarapul and Kitabul land, never ceded.
I run a local writers group, attend another one and belong to a book club with members who have arty and creative souls.

Completed an MA in Philosophy, because education isn’t always about career progression.

Striving to be a better person, writer, gardener and livestock owner.

Love the native wildlife, especially the birds. Counted 50 different species on my property.

WriterSci-fi and philosophy based short stories and novels. And an historical novel. Currently writing a fiction about a murder that takes place at a writers retreat on Straddie. Keeping it local 😎
Rural LifeChickens, cows, wallabies, snakes and raptors. I forgot to mention the fish.
@mattrobertson I had the same exact run in with Alinta, except they wanted my address as well 😡
@Qldaah the RFS out my way have already been out four days (and one entire night) this week.
@morachbeag really enjoyed reading this. Reminded me of the shifts I worked repairing stuff in closed shopping centres. The contrast to my rural property - like stepping into a surreal world.
Anyway, you captured it perfectly. All the feels
@decryption my chicken coop. And my Subaru ☹️
@JenMc oh Lordy, that sounds like hell on earth. I sincerely hope you get a break, and have a good night’s sleep 😢 Hang in there, and thank goodness you reached out.
@mattrobertson I’m trying to be positive, but the weekend was so productive. Ain’t no way the day job can compete, and it’s a full 9-5 tomorrow. Ah well.
Up nice and early today and plotted out a novel revision before heading to the day job. Any day that starts with writing is a good day.
Here’s hoping y’all have a productive Thursday! 😎

@morachbeag Too true. Work called this morning on my day off. I made the decision to have a shower before returning the call - and after, decided, nah. I don’t need to go in on my day off, and I don’t need to return their call. Had a beautifully productive day at home.😊
@KathyReid I’ve seen it in action, and it was farcically inaccurate. A 30 something male was recognised as a 60 something female. But that was a couple of years ago. I’m guessing it’s improved since then
@KathyReid I’ve heard that the camera divides people by gender and age categories, but ‘doesn’t do facial recognition’ allegedly. It uses this info to determine who is entering the store at given times of day, so that the owner of the digital screen can sell the advertising space to companies based on people most likely to buy products.
