A very young Eugene Odum, year not known but already an amazing ornithologist.
Everywhere and nowhere at once in general, but specifically now I decided to run to the special collections library over lunch and they are closed at lunch so I’m just chilling somewhere nobody can find me.

Fledgling #crow just a few hours out of the nest.

If the world's richest 10% reduced their carbon footprint to the EU mean, carbon emissions would fall by 32%.

The extreme heat has devastated corals. As a former marine scientist, this is a truly heartbreaking read:

“The coral didn’t even have a chance to bleach, it just died. It just felt like, ‘Oh my God, we’re in the apocalypse.’ What’s happening?”

What a crazy pleasure to be able to give a tour of the @gmnh invert collections to Dr. Gene Keferl who made a massive and globally deep donation of mollusks to our range a decade ago - hearing how he got started collecting and trading, I bet he was a phenomenal professor!
I’ve been quiet here. January seemed like a lull in “twitter sucks”. But so here is a wild indo-pacific bivalve I catalogued for @gmnh yesterday. It has tiny teeth on the inside edge! Family Gryphaeidae.

I sd the other day MLK is DEFINITELY worthy to be studied/celebrated. Still, King was not THE MOVEMENT. There were many unsung equally impressive participants (e.g. Fannie Lou Hamer)

But I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge another towering figure orbiting MLK. Really he didn’t just orbit MLK. He was a star unto himself

Bob Moses, a silent giant, was not only in the trenches w King/Hamer in Mississippi, he went onto establish The Algebra Project before STEM was a buzzword ✊🏾
