Diagnosing a WordPress site that is slow today for a friend, and after 10 years of this site being alive there’s so many custom tables from abandoned plugins, and also plugins they’ve stopped using, and just way too many disparate plugins in general, it’s no wonder. Often WordPress directs people down the path of adding a plugin for anything, and all of it in your production environment!

@theodric I do too, and you do what you gotta do to make it through. But just don’t forget to resist where you can. Sure we are not even footnotes in history, but hundreds of millions of us together sure as hell are. When we resist in little things we are like millions of grains of sand in their machine. Turn off the news, yes. But continue to resist the regime in the little things, and perhaps turning off the news even is resistance.

@theodric I go back and forth on this. On one hand yeah I can’t do anything. On the other, if everyone did this we’d be doubly screwed. I think it’s a combination of empathy and a desire to make things better, and an addiction to constant stimulation

Just thinking, now that the US has officially bombed Iran, make sure you inspect any Internet connected thing you buy for explosives. We’ve seen how war is fought in 2025 with the way Israel did their pager attacks. This is life now.

Serious question: Is the United States a real country? It seems like it‘s honestly not. It just fell apart like wet paper.

Non-police arresting people without cause or authority, bombing other countries without government approval, stealing data of citizens and giving it to oligarchs. This is not a real country. This is a gang. Nobody is able to stop any of it. The checks and balances don’t work. The system of government is a failure.

As annoying as Bluetooth is, it’s also like a universal api. For example if you want to play a custom mp3 on your Amazon Alexa, you can make a “skill”and write a bunch of proprietary code, or you can just play to it directly via Bluetooth. Same for Google home, etc.
