Possibly controversial position: Narendra Modi is a bigger threat to global democracy than Xi Jinping.
Looking at Turnbull's second ministry, which held office only five years ago, only a handful (mostly the weakest) are left on the Opposition front bench. Same would be true in NSW, I think. Not sure what to make of this. #auspol #nswpol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Turnbull_ministry

Until a year or so ago, I would have said I was a longtermist (zero discounting of later-born generations) and worried about existential risk (mostly nuclear war and catastrophic climate change).

RIP John Kerin.

He was one of the most important reformers of Australian agriculture. He certainly shook up and changed ag industry in Australia, for the better overall.

(I once had the privilege of being a keynote speaker at a national agriculture conference, sharing the platform with him.)

John Kerin, agriculture minister for Bob Hawke and Paul Keating, dies aged 85
