@Bp103 Nice!

Mastodon doesn't have full text search (and certainly not expanding url shorteners), just hashtags, so I guess I gotta establish a convention of using #beepbox eventually...

TIL that music is a nonlinear effect.

In the physical sense, that means that we cannot use Fourier analysis to calculate the sounds of an instrument without including its surroundings also.

Usually (in most physical systems) such effects are small and can be neglected without affecting the results of various calculations.

But for musical instruments, it turns out that they are critical. This is the source of partial overtones: non-integer harmonics!

@ConnyDuck It's the return of the no birds allowed bird!
@Hoskingc There's a droid uprising in the Han Solo movie. (Although it's mostly just an excuse for an action scene.)
@chrisamaphone @eevee If we only get one button for this I feel like "appreciate" is the most broadly useful word: it applies to situations that are not enjoyable but still important. Too bad it's such a long word and hard to fit into UIs.
Do I know anyone who can help me to make a custom text-to-speech voice? There are proprietary services that allow you to do this, but they rely on machine learning APIs that are quite expensive to run, and I wouldn't independently own the result. I would maybe like to be able to license a simulated version of my own voice for other trans artists and allies to use for free, to make their work more accessible.
