Took this pretty nice shot of the rising moon through clouds today on my smartphone, by holding up the lens to the eyepiece of a pair of a binoculars.
There are gadgets that you can buy for this purpose. I think I'll get one. This shot is vastly better than I could have achieved by using the camera zoom alone.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists resetting the "Doomsday Clock" to seven minutes past midnight. That can't be good.
When I was young there was a minor comic villain called the Hate Monger. He was never a great character; to me the threat he represented he was dated & not credible. I got the references, but the idea of people being whipped up to hate blindly was almost inconceivable.
Long story short, today we have a plague of them.
