I mostly use this account to talk about #BattleBots and related things, because there are fans on instances that block my main, and my other alts have other purposes such that the followers don't want to see that much of this stuff. searchable
Part of the reason we decided to do the Viper kit when we did is because there's an annual competition coming up that's closer to us than any other competition, by quite a bit.
The posting I saw had no contact info other than an email address. The first couple emails I had sent (months in advance) got no response. I sent an email a few weeks in advance trying to register (at this point we had the kit in-hand), and got a response that the registration deadline (not mentioned in the posting) had passed and they had hit capacity anyhow.
Boo.
So we could either wait until September for DragonCon, or drive really, really far to go to something a bit sooner. Well, we're registered and planning to go to our first competition next weekend. It's road trip time!
I'm planning on moving this account to a different instance (since this instance is shutting down), but I can't seem to find the move/redirect functionality on MissKey (I think this one is one of the forks, maybe FoundKey?).
If you know where to find how to do that, would appreciate the info.
Either way, feel free to follow my new account: @john (https://snug.moe/@john) Since that looks like where I might be landing.
Looks like I need to shop around for a different instance for bot stuff. Only hard requirement is that it doesn't instance-block most/all of the people I want to interact with. I would prefer if it's FoundKey/MissKey-like.
@geekmomprojects@gareth Neither my kid nor I had a background in this stuff, so we went for the easy mode and built from a kit meant for beginners (in our case Fingertech's Viper kit, which builds an antweight wedge). We got it assembled and working in I think 3 sessions none of which were more than a couple hours.
It's obviously not going to be as competitive as doing a more serious build, but the point was to dip the toe and see if this is something she'd like to really invest time & money in without biting off more than we could chew. And a kit seems like a good approach for that.
@xahteiwi How many levels down is "top"? My org is small enough, there only are 3 levels and the top level is just 1 guy (I'm on the third rung and have no reports).
