He talked about electric cars. I don't know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Then he talked about rockets. I don't know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Now he talks about software. I happen to know a lot about software & Elon Musk is saying the stupidest shit I've ever heard anyone say, so when people say he's a genius I figure I should stay the hell away from his cars and rockets.

Made some "Springerle" for the first time, Swabian Christmas cookies like my Oma used to make. Didn't have a mold l, so I carved a rough one using a piece of a broken cutting board. I don't know what kind of wood this is, not ideal for carving, but it was still fun! Read online that traditional Springerle moulds are made from pear wood. Will try to get some for next year...
Recipe: Eggs, sugar, flour, lemon peel, salt, ammonium bicarbonate, rum. Anise seeds, and some butter to grease the sheets.

Inspired by this, I asked DALL-E 2 for an early 2000s magazine photo of John Mastodon, founder of the Mastodon social network.

Attached: 2 images I put "John Mastodon, CEO of Mastodon" into DALL-E 2 and this is what it spat out. The second photo is him founding the company in the late 1990s in his college dorm room. #JohnMastodon

This is not a chart depicting Mooreโ€™s Law.

This chart is the CRAYOLA COROLLARY showing that the number of Crayola crayon colors doubles approximately every 18 years.
I have a custom CLI py build script wrapper for my Android app builds. It's basically shortcuts and some other neat things. It also talks. It says "Good build", followed by "Installing..." and finally "Launched!" and "Bad build" for failures. I built it so I can do other stuff (check slack, get a coffee, burpees) while waiting for long builds , while still getting notified when it's done. Was WFH when I added this. It's fun when I forget to mute it at the office -- ppl ask me "what was that?".
The holidays come as a surprise every single year.
This is really quite fascinating. There is exactly one ISP that is blocking mail from the mail server I run, which is used to deliver mail for infosec.exchange - t-online.de. It annoys me to no end that I see people try to subscribe to infosec.exchange and the confirmation emails are rejected. So, I contacted their postmaster, and to their credit, they got back to me very quickly, but they are basically saying "yeah, you need to use one of the big mail providers if you want to send mail to t-online subscribers".... Ok then. My apologies to any t-online subscribers (who probably can't see this anyhow), but you'll apparently need to use a different email account to register.

Introducing the first alpha release of Mastodon 3.11 for Workgroups!

Ok, #android folks: how to insert a gradient-colored text span into a Spannable, in a solid way, without adding markup to the strings.xml, enabling translation. SO only yielded unsatisfying solutions so far.
