Made some "Springerle" for the first time, Swabian Christmas cookies like my Oma used to make. Didn't have a mold l, so I carved a rough one using a piece of a broken cutting board. I don't know what kind of wood this is, not ideal for carving, but it was still fun! Read online that traditional Springerle moulds are made from pear wood. Will try to get some for next year...
Recipe: Eggs, sugar, flour, lemon peel, salt, ammonium bicarbonate, rum. Anise seeds, and some butter to grease the sheets.
