Trying to find a good place for the minnow trap I was gifted. I caught nothing in the pod where I put it yesterday. Maybe I will find something in the creek.

I took 497 pictures of this tiny water beetle tonight. This might be the best one. The background is a penny so, it was a very small water beetle, if that is a defense.

Spent the last two days putting together a website about dung beetles of New York State dairy pastures for our livestock IPM team (not done yet or I'd share) and this morning I found this little dude in a cobweb by my back door. I think the genus is copris but I don't know. It wasn't one of the species on the website, probably because they didn't have a photo. I don't think my cobweb covered one will work for the site. #dungbeetles #beetles

Went on a random mission to find fingernail clams in our woods in dried up vernal pools, just to see if I could find them. I'm still excited that they exist since I spent the majority of my life not knowing.

One of us is convinced a chipmunk is going to die at their hands and the other is just hanging out appreciating the amazing pre-sunset light on the shagbark hickories. #cats #fallcolors
