My PronounsHe/Him

@jensimmons hi, I’m trying to find resources on how the new viewport works in Safari 26 on iOS.

In the first image, I have a simple dialog with a ::backdrop. In the second, a div with position: fixed; inset: 0;.

I obviously want both to extend to the screen edges — but they don’t.

Are there any good resources explaining this behavior?

@overcastfm love the new design but this is a bit anoying. The toolbar says on top of the controls.

Today I finally got to meet the Genia team in person after we wrapped up the project we’ve been working on for quite a while. After months of sprinting, we wanted to step back, collect our thoughts, and discuss the huge opportunities that this release has unlocked. I left so energized. Finally being in the same room and sharing that excitement together was incredible.

I’m so excited to see where all these ideas can take us.

After 23 years of writing code, you’d think I’d know who I am professionally. Instead, it took a complete burnout to realize that somewhere along the way, programming stopped being what I loved. I just didn’t notice.

Every year I review my journey as a freelancer. Time for my third annual review.

Year Three Review

After 23 years of writing code, you’d think I’d know who I am professionally. Instead, it took a complete burnout to realize that somewhere along the way, programming stopped being what I loved. I just didn’t notice. If you’ve been following my freelancing journey, you know it’s been quite the ride: Year one was the best year of my professional life. Year two, a spectacular crash. And year three? Year three was when I discovered the difference between loving code and loving to produce code. Time for my third annual review.

@imyke Hi, just wanted to say that the first episode of Cortex: State of the Workflow with Austin Evans was my favorite podcast episode of the year. Amazing job!

@imyke is Cotton Bureau the only way to buy the Sidekick Notepad? I wanted to buy it and ship it to Sweden but this is just ridiculous. #CortexBrand

@KrijnHoetmer hi, I read this on the CSS Day site: “In addition to the regular conference we'll do something special for our anniversary”

Will that affect travel arrangement? I planing to book my flight soon.

"A Call for Consensus on #HTML Semantics"

Partly a rant, minorly educational, mostly a call for help.

A Call for Consensus on HTML Semantics | Stephanie Eckles

HTML is supposed to be easy to learn. And sure, the basics are pretty clear, but how are we supposed to make the "right" choice in nuanced situations?

It has been a crazy year where I’ve spent most of my time awake thinking about software architecture and how we should solve our current project in the best possible way. Now, we’ve done our part; six senior architects have dissected our proposed solution, and it looks like it passed.

This means we can only wait and hope our project gets a thumbs-up. It’s time to relax and try to find new energy.

This is how I do it. What do you do to stay motivated?
