I wrote about energy, matter, and abundance for the Future Observatory Journal of the Design Museum, London — what we can learn from the history of energy use and extraction to build a future of materials use that’s sustainable:

Energy and the Matter Problem - Future Observatory Journal

The dawn of infinite clean energy is beckoning, but we still have the problem of finite matter. What if energy ‘too cheap to meter’ means that we can finally close material loops, even for the mother of all problems: plastics

Given everything happening right now, I updated this article with options for weather apps, web forms, and translation services — along with some tweaks to existing categories.

I hope it helps your transition off US tech!

I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

We need to choose the train, starting with the very achievable link between #Ottawa and #Montreal, which will allow Canada to join the 28 nations that already have high-speed trains, for under $20 billion.

Today, a friend involved in the Esna restoration project has shared with me his latest stunning photos of the restored ceiling and columns of the Temple of Khnum in Esna, Upper #Egypt. During a multi-year restoration project, the dirt and soot that had obscured the colors of the reliefs and inscriptions within the building for ca 2000 years were carefully removed. The temple is located 60 kilometers south of Luxor.
